Cats and dogs have three life stages; kitten/puppy, adult, and elder. Once your pet reaches senior status, it will only live an additional 6-11 days before succumbing to age-related issues.
Dogs

Running a vet clinic requires essential skills, including research and treating your Sims’ pets on exam tables. Furthermore, your Sims must be willing to handle the stress that comes with being an owner/operator of a vet clinic.
Your Sims’ pet care skillset will also benefit their overall star rating, potentially increasing profits in the long run. Furthermore, they have the option to perform surgery if needed on their pets for added convenience.
Dogs and cats both possess pet traits that influence how they perceive the world around them. For instance, your Sims’ cats might be more inclined to play fetch than other animals in their pack.
These traits can be altered in your pet’s settings, located under the Gaming Traits tab. Each pet can have three distinct personalities; kitten/puppy, adult, and elderly.
Kittens and puppies typically live six to eleven Sim days before they pass away due to old age. Elderly pets will live much longer than when they were kittens/puppies or adults, though only up until a random age.
Cats

Create A Pet offers plenty of customization options for your furry friends, such as their breed, coat, and age. Plus, you can dress them up for parties and special occasions like their own birthday!
There’s also a brand-new veterinarian occupation in Sims World! Veterinarians can treat animal ailments and even run their own clinics! Before being able to cure them, vets must research various diseases and treatments – but vets will be rewarded with higher ratings as well as the satisfaction of successfully curing your pets!

Horses

However, be patient as the best pet longevity mods tend to come at an expensive price tag, so do some research before choosing one for your furry pals!
Birds
Pets have been available in The Sims 4 since September 2014. Interacting with them brings out positive moodlets, and some pets even assist players with gardening by taking care of bugs on crops. Unfortunately, certain pets are more prone to sickness than others – for instance, cows can get sick if they drink milk; cats and dogs must be kept clean and away from water sources to prevent illness.
With the Cottage Living pack from EA, The Sims 4 now features more traits to foster animal-friendly and rural communities. One trait called Animal Enthusiast gives sims positive moodlets when interacting with Chickens, Llamas, Cows (if they have the Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack), or Wild Birds.
Another new trait is Lactose Intolerant, which makes Sims feel uncomfortable if they consume dairy products. This trait more closely resembles an allergy than a personality trait, but it adds another dimension to creating unique Sims. You can raise cows for milk but also have non-dairy milk made from veggies treats. Furthermore, this mod will enable Sims to get pregnant much more quickly than they normally would; their pregnancy lasts 18 hours total – 6 hours for each trimester.
